Project Manager

After serving clients for over 13 years, we’ve built a culture focused on delivery, crystal-clear expectations, and collaboration. We're looking to hire another Project Manager (PM) to add to that foundation, to grow our team, and continue to take our team to the next level.

First, we just want you to learn about who we are and how we work. You’ll work closely with our leadership, operations, and engineering teams to understand the value we provide, how we foster and nurture our customer relationships, and how you fit into these processes. Our goal is to seamlessly tie project proposal and execution together while still enjoying the day-to-day. Once you’ve gotten a good grasp on our processes and culture, you’ll help drive the communication with a variety of stakeholders, and grow your skills while helping us grow.

Punch Through is a design services engineering company. For more than a decade, people have come to us to get help building connected products. We love building products that make the world a better place and have a positive impact on people’s lives.

Full-time · Minneapolis, MN 55401

  • There’s a lot of room for growth: As we continue to take on more projects, your responsibilities will grow in the future.
  • We are a small company with a large and well-respected brand – we’re recognized as premier Bluetooth product development experts in our industry. This allows us the ability to choose which projects we do, and ensure they align with our values.
  • You’ll never get stuck in a rut working on the same types of projects because we have a very wide variety of clients. They range from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies in industries ranging from medical technology to consumer devices.

  • Schedule and facilitate recurring meetings with clients and the internal team
  • Communicate the project status with customers weekly including project risks, milestones, budget, and project issues
  • Prepare and execute project plans
  • Collaborate with engineers on task and milestone planning
  • Initialize and draft parts of the Statement of Work for potential projects

  • Have experience writing proposals
  • Experience with task management tools (i.e. Jira, Trello)
  • Bonus: Are familiar with regulated devices (i.e. medical device development)

Our Culture Statement

Our team and culture are everything to us. We value having empathy for one another and recognizing the challenges we are all going through both inside and outside the workplace. By doing so, we maximize our ability to help our team members be happy, successful, and themselves.

To be in it for the long-haul we must be comfortable, which means being relaxed, creative, and able to do great work without always needing to be serious. Being transparent and honest about who we are helps us to resolve internal and external conflict, develop deeper relationships, and most importantly, be happy.

Our culture is a summation of the ways that we are different from other companies. We take pride in our unique abilities and strive to do the best work in our industry. However, we never stop working to improve and grow both individually and as a team. We teach each other, we teach our clients, and we seek learning opportunities in all forms. We’re hungry for knowledge in the world and seek to leverage each other’s experiences. We are building a company where everyone can be their best selves and have a meaningful impact on one another and our industry.

If you are great today but want to be better tomorrow, this is the home for you!

All About You

Experience: We hire for potential, but recognize a proven track record. We believe the right culture can be the catalyst of growth for a motivated individual, and we’ll never get in the way of your growth and success.

We are looking for experience with managing projects in a design services consulting environment. Communication must be extremely thoughtful and strategic, and you must have experience working with external clients.

Skills: You must be a Project Manager with exposure to a number of software development and project management methodologies, and comfortable with tailoring the approach to what’s best for our clients. We typically have several to a dozen projects running simultaneously, so you must possess strong organizational skills and remain in the loop on concurrent work streams. While you won’t be responsible for leading our business development efforts, experience with Statement of Work (SOW) development and project proposals will be beneficial to this role. You must enjoy communicating from the heart and looking to do what’s best for both ourselves and our clients. If we are our authentic selves and communicate transparently, our relationships will naturally flourish, and that’s what makes Punch Through one of the best places to work.

To feel happy and be successful in this position, you must be able to think strategically and systematically, enjoy mentoring for the sake of improving yourself and others, and feel natural alignment with our company value of being selfless.

Strategic Thinker: In addition to supporting our existing projects, you will help lead the growth of our project and client management practices and further lay the foundation for the ability to grow our delivery team in the future. It will be imperative to success in this role that you can step back and see the big picture. You’ll be making decisions and discussing strategies that take into account multiple projects, stakeholders with a wide breadth of personalities and responsibilities, and internal and external business implications.

Curiosity: Be great today, be better tomorrow. We believe that if you aren’t curious about how the world works the way it does or you don’t challenge expectations, then you will never grow. Our teams resonate with each other in large part due to our passion for learning and growing.

Independent: You will be the sole full-time person dedicated to project management responsibilities, so you must be motivated to operate and work in a self-managed fashion. With that said, we are huge believers in collaborative efforts, so you will have the support of the teams around you in many of the responsibilities you own, whether in the project proposal, execution, or closing phases.

Experiments: We believe there is no single “right” way to manage projects. Different clients, teams, and project scopes may necessitate a degree of creativity in defining our approach to managing a project. Project Management isn’t always a creative endeavor, but we love the idea of thoughtfully considering whether we need to adapt our ways to optimize for success, then putting it to the test.

Your goals for the first 60 days

Everyone hates showing up for their first day not sure what to do. Don’t worry, we have plenty for you to do, and will guide you through the journey so you’re not overwhelmed or abandoned at your post. Within your first 60 days, we expect that:

  • You will have an understanding of our business, value proposition, and our customers
  • You will be able to execute all project kickoff responsibilities for a new project(s)
  • You will be able to execute all project coordination responsibilities for any number of projects
  • You will have an understanding of our Project Sponsorship (sometimes referred to as Account Management) responsibilities
  • Additionally, you will be part of our internal conversations on how we continue to foster great client relationships
  • You will have an understanding of how our teams operate within our values, and how we protect those values to deliver the best quality work to our clients
  • You will understand our process and tact for project proposals
  • You will be able to review new SOWs for our standard best practices
